 GETTING INVOLVED

Getting involved with Wellspring’s Foster Care and Adoption Support Team is as easy as sending an email to fast@wellspringcc.org. We’ll discuss what your interests are and how you would like to be involved.

BECOMING A FOSTER PARENT

If you have a heart for kids and you have a heart for seeing kids coming to know Jesus, we ask that you prayerfully consider becoming a foster care parent. We have a number of foster care parents in Wellspring Church that are willing to share and talk with you, answer questions and give you insights into foster care. Once you have some basic knowledge of foster care, you should attend one or more orientations put on by foster care agencies. We can point you to the agency we partner with, but we recommend going to others to get a good overview of what each one does best. Then there is an application to fill out. There is 12 hours of training that is coordinated through the foster care agency that you have selected to work with and is available at no cost to you. Once you’re licensed, you have 18 months to complete an additional 12 hours of training. Finally, there is a home evaluation. This entails several meetings with you, your spouse and even your kids with a social worker (including a home visit by that social worker).

After that, you are ready to go. The home evaluation, beginning to end, takes about six months and is the longest portion of the licensure process.

If you are interested in becoming a foster care parent, email us at fast@wellspringcc.org. We would love to talk with you!
